DESCRIPTION

The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions for the 2026 fall semester to teach in person and/or on-line in the following courses: Noncredit-English as a Second Language Faculty job responsibilities include the development of class curriculum to meet the requirements detailed in the Course Outline of Record, and the assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services. Some assignments may include dual-enrollment courses offsite on high school campuses. Faculty assignments may include morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours. Dual enrollment, distance education, on-line or hybrid with required distance education certification assignments are voluntary. For faculty who are interested in teaching online or hybrid courses, completion of El Camino College's distance education certification process is required or submission of a waiver with evidence of prior certification to develop and teach quality online courses. Faculty may participate in initiatives set forth by the College that support students to achieve their educational goals through collaborations with employers, advisory committees, industry/trade groups, universities, high schools, or other partnerships with related instructional disciplines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

For a noncredit course in English as a Second Language (ESL) any of the following: Bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) OR Bachelor's degree in education, English, linguistics, applied linguistics, any foreign language, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, or speech; and a certificate in TESL, which may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor; OR Bachelor's degree with any of the majors specified in subparagraph (2) above; and one year of experience teaching English as a second language in an accredited institution; and a certificate in TESL, which may be completed concurrently during the first two years of employment as a noncredit instructor; OR Possession of a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in ESL. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PM SALARY:

Part-time faculty are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $110.17- $146.27 (lecture), $83.51- $110.84 (lab), (based on PT salary schedule fall/spring) per hour depending on education and experience.

This is a part-time, temporary position for the fall semester, beginning August 24, 2026. Assignments may include off-site locations.
