The African Community Education (ACE) Program is a non-profit community organization established to address the educational & social needs of African refugee & immigrant populations in Worcester, MA. ACE works by assisting families to achieve educational & social stability by providing access to academic support, community resources & avenues for cultural expression.

ELL Teacher Responsibilities:

The English Language Learner (ELL) teacher will plan and implement activity based English lessons for classes of up to 15 students. The ELL class will explore identity through activity based English lessons with a focus on reading and writing skills. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Teaches two in person ELL classes during the ACE Saturday program a. 9:30 AM TO 10:30 am b. 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
• Submits lesson plans the Wednesday before a program session via email to Program Coordinator.
• Incorporate project-based learning into the classes.
• Completes daily class attendance forms
• Works collaboratively and engage with volunteer teaching assistants to provide additional classroom support to students.
• Participates in or Chaperone Special Event Days such as Project Days, Field Trips, College Access Days, Winter Celebration and Spring Festival.
• Attends additional professional development and meetings, dates and times

TB Think/Give Teacher Responsibilities:

The Think/Give Teacher guides students in learning life skills.

Teachers will lead students through activities that will help them to better understand themselves and their place in society. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Teaches one Think/Give class from 12:45 pm to 1:15 pm.
• Submits lesson plans the Wednesday before a program session via email to Program Coordinator.
• Adheres to ACE Think/Give Curriculum as provided
• Completes daily class attendance forms
• Works collaboratively and engages with volunteer teaching assistants to provide additional classroom support to students.
• Participates in or Chaperone Special Event Days such as Project Days, Field Trips, College Access Days, Winter Celebration and Spring Festival.

Work Hours & Schedule:

9:00am - 2:00pm (+1.5 hrs rep)

Compensation:
