We are looking for an educator who believes that every student can achieve at high levels when provided with strong instruction, meaningful relationships, and appropriate academic supports. The ESL/EL Teacher will provide targeted language-development instruction and support to students who are developing proficiency in English. This individual will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, intervention staff, school leadership, and families to ensure English Learners have equitable access to grade-level instruction and are making measurable academic and language growth. Primary Responsibilities Provide direct ESL/English Learner instruction to students individually, in small groups, and through push-in or pull-out support as appropriate. Support students in developing proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English. Use student data and language-proficiency information to plan targeted instruction and monitor student growth. Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide strategies, accommodations, and instructional supports for English Learners. Assist teachers in differentiating grade-level content for students at varying levels of English proficiency. Participate in MTSS, data meetings, PLCs, and student-support meetings as needed. Maintain accurate student records, progress-monitoring information, and required EL documentation. Support required English-language proficiency assessments and related testing procedures. Communicate with families in a welcoming, culturally responsive manner and help strengthen the connection between home and school. Advocate for English Learners and help ensure students have full access to the academic and social opportunities available at MMLA. Participate in professional development, staff meetings, school events, and other responsibilities associated with being an active member of the MMLA team. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Michigan teaching certificate or eligibility for appropriate certification. ESL/English Learner endorsement, certification, or relevant experience strongly preferred. Experience working with multilingual learners and culturally diverse student populations preferred. Knowledge of effective language-development and literacy instructional practices. Ability to analyze student data and use it to plan instruction and intervention. Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and relationship-building skills. Commitment to maintaining high expectations for all students.
