PART-TIME ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

Read Muskegon is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to increase the quality of life in Muskegon County through improved literacy. The vision of Read Muskegon is that all residents of Muskegon County have access to high quality literacy instruction that enables them to reach their potential and contribute fully to their community.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities of the English Language Instructor are to plan, document lessons, and instruct English as a Second Language courses for adult learners. Classes are to be facilitated in-person at various community sites in Muskegon County.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Create lesson plans and prepare all necessary materials for Beginner's and Intermediate Level English as Second Language classes. Utilize interactive strategies to support learners in reading, writing and speaking the English language. Instruct each class with the support of Read Muskegon volunteers, as needed. Assist in screening and assessment of participants. Maintain daily records of class attendance and progress. Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Manage learner communication and classroom alerts.

Required Qualifications:

B.A. in education, TESOL, or related field. Active teaching certification with TESOL certification or ESL endorsement. Experience planning and teaching lessons for multi-leveled groups of learners. Excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to interact effectively and compassionately with people from a variety of backgrounds. The ability to work cooperatively on a team and independently Computer literacy: Microsoft Office programs, virtual meeting platforms, internet, and email. Applicants must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of required insurance, and complete a successful background check. The position may, occasionally, be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Mondays 9:00am

• 4:30pm Tuesdays 9:00am
• 11:00am, 3:30pm
• 9:00pm Wednesdays 9:00am
• 11:00am, 7:00
• 9:00pm Thursdays 9:00am
• 11:00am, 3:30pm
• 7:30pm 16 in-person class hours, 14 prep hours each week As Read Muskegon continues to grow its organizational capacity, working conditions and schedules may change.

$22.00
