Role Description The English Language Arts Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Salem, NH. This educator will design and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned with school standards and college-preparatory expectations. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and implementing instruction, facilitating discussions around literature and writing, assessing student work, and providing constructive feedback to support growth in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to integrate arts-focused learning into the ELA curriculum, participate in school-wide initiatives and professional development, and communicate regularly with families and support staff about student progress. The role also involves maintaining a positive classroom environment that honors diverse perspectives and supports student creativity and independence. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in English Teaching and Language Arts instruction, with experience engaging diverse learners in reading, writing, and critical analysis. Experience teaching Middle School or High School students, with the ability to adapt instructional strategies to different developmental levels. Proficiency in Teaching practices, including lesson planning, classroom management, and formative and summative assessment. Curriculum Development skills, including designing standards-aligned units, integrating arts and cross-curricular content, and differentiating for varied learner needs. Relevant teaching certification or eligibility for certification in English or Language Arts in New Hampshire. Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus. Ability to foster an inclusive, student-centered classroom environment that supports creativity, collaboration, and respect. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to ongoing professional growth and participation in school community activities.
