Summer Program Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic ELA Teacher to join our summer program in Flushing. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a school setting and be comfortable teaching students in grades 2-6 . The teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging English Language Arts instruction focused on reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar, vocabulary development, and critical thinking. The successful candidate should be able to create a positive and structured classroom environment, support students with different learning levels, and help students strengthen their academic English skills during the summer. Responsibilities Teach daily ELA lessons for students in grades 2-6 Provide instruction in: Reading comprehension strategies Writing skills (paragraph writing, creative writing, informational writing, and essays) Grammar, vocabulary, and language usage Critical thinking and discussion skills Prepare engaging lesson plans and classroom activities Differentiate instruction based on students' individual needs and abilities Provide guidance and feedback to help students improve their reading and writing skills Manage classroom routines and maintain a positive learning environment Monitor student progress and communicate observations when needed Collaborate with program staff to support student learning goals Qualifications & Requirements Previous teaching experience in a school, classroom, or educational setting required Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students (Grades 2-6) Strong knowledge of English Language Arts instruction Ability to teach reading and writing skills effectively Strong classroom management skills Patient, responsible, and enthusiastic with children Excellent communication and organizational skills Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience with Common Core ELA standards Experience preparing students for school-level writing assignments or assessments Experience working with diverse learners and different academic levels Work Schedule Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM•4:00 PM In-person position
