English Teacher A Child's Forest House Austin, TX Job Details Part-time | Contract From $25 an hour 19 hours ago Qualifications School experience Multilingual Teaching Certification English Critical thinking Full Job Description Part-Time Elementary English Teacher We are looking for an engaging and experienced elementary educator to lead a small-group English enrichment program designed for children whose first language is not English. This is a great opportunity for a current elementary school teacher who enjoys working with students in a small-group setting and is looking for meaningful additional income outside of regular school hours. Position Overview The program is taught in small groups and focuses on strengthening students' English skills through active, engaging instruction rather than simple memorization or worksheets. Lessons will help students build confidence in vocabulary, sentence structure, reading comprehension, speaking, and written expression. The teacher will also lead a Book Club component, using high-quality children's literature to encourage group discussion, critical thinking, comprehension, and a genuine enjoyment of reading. Responsibilities Teach small-group English enrichment classes for elementary-aged students Support students who speak English as an additional language Strengthen vocabulary, sentence structure, speaking, reading, and writing skills Lead interactive Book Club discussions and related group activities Use games, discussion, movement, and hands-on activities to make learning engaging Differentiate instruction based on students' ages and English proficiency levels Create a positive, encouraging group environment where students feel comfortable communicating in English Preferred Qualifications Current elementary school teacher strongly preferred Teaching certification or relevant elementary education experience Strong understanding of literacy and language development Experience working with multilingual or ESL/ELL students is a plus Energetic, creative, dependable, and comfortable leading small groups Passion for helping children develop confidence and a love of learning Schedule Part-time, after-school hours. This position is especially well suited for a current classroom teacher seeking an additional source of income while continuing to do meaningful educational work with children.
