We are seeking a passionate and dependable Amharic Teacher to join our education team and help students develop strong Amharic language skills while building a meaningful connection to Ethiopian culture. Job Description Abugida Language & Cultural Center is seeking a passionate, responsible, and enthusiastic Amharic Teacher to teach Amharic language and Ethiopian culture to children. The teacher will provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction in Amharic reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, and conversation. The teacher will also incorporate Ethiopian history, culture, traditions, holidays, stories, music, and hands-on activities into the classroom. Position Responsibilities Teach Amharic to children at different ages and language levels. Follow Abugida's curriculum and lesson plans while adapting instruction to students' needs. Teach Amharic reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, and conversation. Incorporate Ethiopian culture, history, traditions, holidays, stories, music, and customs into lessons. Create engaging, age-appropriate classroom activities. Use games, songs, crafts, stories, and hands-on activities to support language learning. Maintain a positive, respectful, and culturally supportive classroom environment. Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or accomplishments to the education team. Complete basic classroom records and student progress documentation. Communicate professionally with parents and staff. Attend required teacher meetings and professional-development activities. Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom. Qualifications Strong fluency in Amharic, including speaking, reading, and writing. Experience teaching children is preferred. Experience working with Ethiopian or Ethiopian-American children is a plus. Knowledge of Ethiopian culture, traditions, history, and customs. Ability to work with children of different ages and learning levels. Patient, energetic, responsible, and dependable. Ability to create a welcoming and encouraging learning environment. Must be comfortable working as part of a team. Previous teaching experience or education-related training is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
