JOB SUMMARY
: We are seeking a dynamic and innovative part time secondary ELA teacher to join our team and lead high school classes in ELA within an online program supported by a challenge-based learning environment. As an LLA ELA teacher, you will engage students in hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of ELA concepts. You bring energy and enthusiasm for challenge based learning and outdoor education; organization and initiative; warmth and a good sense of humor; collaborative nature and consensus‐building skills; patience and persistence; and excellent communication skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated expertise in your personal and/or professional life of making, building, and designing. Experience with a comprehensive curriculum and project-based learning is desirable. Preferred bachelor's degree in education or engineering. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support and implement the school's philosophy, mission, vision, and values including programs and initiatives. 2. Maintain a climate of mutual respect, safety, and order that is conducive to learning and academic risk. 3. Facilitate and create lessons in accordance with LLA's mission: Assist, support, and encourage students as they learn new skills for developing ideas, experiencing success and failure, and making things in a highly collaborative setting. 4. Deliver instruction and guide 5th-8th grade students. 5. Coordinate with school staff and outside partners to create lesson plans. 6. Implement differentiated education strategies from accommodations to modifications. 7. Attend team collaboration and data meetings as well as all early dismissal day staff activities. Engage and actively participate in all aspects of the meetings following faculty norms/social contract. 8. Other duties may be assigned outside of classroom work based on the curriculum and the needs of students.
COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS
Frequent written, telephone, electronic, and in-person contact with the administration, teachers, parents, volunteers, and community representatives for exchange of information and services and general problem-solving. ▪ Written correspondence includes school communication websites, newsletter articles, memos, and the dissemination of educational documents. ▪ Regular contact with parents for purposes of advocacy, education, and general information sharing.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the school administrator(s) using informal and formal observations conducted multiple times each year by evaluators. Teachers will be evaluated in the following areas: building relationships, personal and professional development, mentoring, designing for engagement and impact, and facilitating personalized learning. Feedback is an integral part of our quality assurance system. Candidates must appreciate and respect constructive feedback, as we should be modeling this process of assessment for learning.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
In coordination with school administrators, Teacher Assistants, if applicable.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates are preferred to have a bachelor's degree but must have relevant experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to organize and chair or facilitate committees and meetings.
