Notre Dame School of Milwaukee is a Catholic School founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Milwaukee, WI. The school was founded in 1996 as Notre Dame Middle School, an all girls 5th-8th grade middle school to serve Latinas on the southside of Milwaukee. Today Notre Dame School of Milwaukee is a Grade K3-8 Catholic school sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. It has a co-education primary school serving boys and girls in a Spanish and English dual language model. NDSM addresses the urgent, critical needs of the community through student-focused education. We currently serve over 690 students across three campuses and we have both an all-boys and all-girls middle school, a co-ed primary school, and an Early Childhood Education program. Temporary Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience:
Wisconsin State Certification as an English as a Second Language Teacher (395) Current Wisconsin Teacher's License Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred Responsibilities Support teachers and support students with English language skills to non-native speakers, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening Coordinates and conducts ACCESS testing for students Temporary main contact with Milwaukee Public Schools relating to Emergent Bilingual and ACCESS coordination Cultivates an atmosphere conducive to learning Commitment to Catholic Education and Gospel values Organizes and prepares resources for students and teachers Supervises areas as assigned Communicates professionally and in a timely manner with teachers, parents and students
Record Keeping Duties:
Completes all required forms and reports Maintain accurate records of student information
Other:
Actively engages in professional development Participates and meets the requirements of Sustaining the Mission and maintains the appropriate level of certification Attends all faculty and in-service meetings, and other meetings as needed Meet professional teacher education requirements of school district and state Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis Must have knowledge and experience with cultural sensitivity and awareness Ability to be flexible, resilient, and adaptable to changing priorities, with a willingness to put students first at all times Performs other duties as assigned
