We seekcandidates that will complementour current expertise in remote sensing,paleontology, petrology, and geophysics. TheKimbell School of Geosciences in the McCoyCollege of Science, Mathematics andEngineering at Midwestern State University invites applications for afull-time, 9-month tenure trackAssociate Professor/Professor, to begin in theSpring of 2027. The open position is for the endowed Robert L. Bolin Chair inPetroleumGeology. The successful candidate will teach introductory geosciencescourses, petroleum geology, and other appropriate upper-level andgraduatecourses of their design. Coursework partially supports a minor in PetroleumEngineering. They will oversee undergraduate andmaster's research, pursueexternal support, and engage in service to the university and community. Theywill fully participate in ourdynamic program, supporting our strong ties tothe region's petroleum exploration, water resource, and environmental serviceand regulatorycommunities. Minimumqualifications are a Ph. D. in geosciences, strong interpersonal skills, andevidence of experience orpotential for success in teaching. The applicant willdemonstrate a record of success through either publications in refereedjournalscommensurate with experience or that of an established career inrelated industry or government agency. Candidates should be familiar withsubsurface data and its integration in modern computing environments. Preferredqualifications include demonstrated success inteaching, mentoring, and broaderengagement. Areas of specialization may include, but are not limited to oil/gasexploration, reservoircharacterization, basin evolution, structural geology,and petroleum geochemistry. Experience in developing a successful undergraduateandgraduate research programs will be given special consideration. Industry orregulatory experience is also preferred. Expertise in regional(particularlyon-shore Texas and southern Midcontinent) petroleum systems is additionallydesirable. Thisposition requires theability to maintain positive working relationships withstudents, faculty, staff, and the community.
