Position Overview:

Sofia University is seeking a reliable and professional doctoral student to serve as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for our MBA Program at the Costa Mesa campus. The TA will provide on-site classroom support for graduate-level courses delivered live by Sofia University faculty from our Palo Alto campus.

Responsibilities:

Be physically present at the Sofia University Costa Mesa campus three weekends per 10-week quarter, typically during Weeks 3, 6, and 9.

Time Commitment:

30 hours per 10-week quarter, concentrated primarily during three residential weekends. Facilitate and supervise the Costa Mesa classroom while instruction is delivered live by Sofia University faculty from the Palo Alto campus. Take and accurately record student attendance in Canvas according to University attendance policies. Monitor attendance throughout the session, including ensuring students arrive on time and do not leave class early. Help maintain an appropriate classroom environment and encourage students to remain attentive and engaged during instruction. Serve as the on-site point of contact for basic classroom needs during the residential sessions. Distribute handouts or other instructional materials when requested by the faculty member. Communicate any attendance concerns, classroom issues, or other relevant matters to the faculty member and/or MBA Program administration.

Qualifications:

Current doctoral students or a Master's degree. Prior Teaching Assistant experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity with learning management systems (Canvas). Basic comfort with classroom technology and live/remote instruction. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Professionalism and the ability to appropriately interact with graduate students and faculty. Reliability and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to be physically present at the Sofia University Costa Mesa campus for all assigned residential sessions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Canvas, particularly attendance tracking.
