Job Description

Description The Simulation Center Student Worker is a part-time, on-campus position designed for students enrolled in a Health Sciences program who want hands-on experience in academic simulation, assessment support, and clinical education environments. This role provides essential support to faculty, staff, and academic administrators by assisting with simulation preparation, assessment activities, equipment readiness, and learner support within the Simulation Center and connected instructional spaces. This student position plays a key role in the daily operations of the Simulation Center—helping prepare learning environments, managing supplies and linen needs, supporting faculty during assessments, and providing frontline assistance to students and visitors. Essential Functions Essential Functions Key Responsibilities Simulation & Assessment Support Serve as a faculty assessment aid during simulation and skills evaluations (e.g., preparing rooms, organizing materials, supporting flow of learners). Assist with simulation setup and breakdown, including equipment, task trainers, manikins, room staging, props, and documentation materials. Partner with faculty and the Simulation Coordinator to ensure assessment spaces are organized, safe, and ready for instruction. Help maintain accurate logs for equipment, room usage, and assessment materials. Operational & Administrative Support Support Health Sciences programs by assisting with photocopying, filing, document preparation, and basic office tasks. Manage linen and laundry needs related to simulations and lab activities. Assist with data entry, material organization, supply restocking, and general clerical support. Coordinate with faculty on course-related needs such as distributing forms, syllabi, and assessment sheets. Student & Program Support Provide friendly, respectful customer service to students, visitors, and faculty using the Simulation Center. Direct students to assigned simulation rooms, skill labs, and classrooms within Health Sciences buildings. Assist with special projects, initiatives, and simulation-based events as assigned by faculty, the Simulation Coordinator, or the Dean. Participate in training sessions, meetings, and safety/operations briefings. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies.
Minimum Qualifications Qualifications & Skills Required:
Enrolled in a Health Sciences program and registered for a minimum of 6 credits during employment. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Must be eligible for a Federal Work Study Award from Financial Aid Ability to pass a criminal background check. Reliable, responsible, and able to follow instructions while working independently or as part of a team. Willingness to learn about healthcare simulation, assessment processes, and academic operations.
Skills:
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace. Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills. Ability to lift, move, or set up equipment as needed for simulation activities. Supplemental Information Jackson College only accepts on-line applications though this system.
