Brief Job Description This position comes with a tuition scholarship that will cover up to 9 credit hours per semester at the in-state tuition rate.
This Graduate Assistant is an experienced graduate staff position that is utilized in halls to support programming and retention initiatives in the complex. This position is designed for a 20- hour per week work commitment for 10 months with the possibility of summer employment. GAs are expected to live on-campus in an assigned apartment within the residence halls. GAs are provided with an apartment and meal plan. GAs will be required to fulfill the majority of the work commitments on campus during normal business hours, which may include some evening and weekend commitments. Responsibilities include creating a positive living community amongst the building, supervising a student staff, tracking programming efforts, and hearing low level conduct cases. This position participates in an on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications Current or entering full-time (6 credit hours) matriculated graduate student at Buffalo State University.
Preferred Qualifications The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates should have strong leadership and interpersonal skills; the candidate should exhibit professionalism and the ability to work successfully within a team. Preference will be given to candidates with prior residence hall or student leadership experience at the undergraduate level.
