(Summer Policy) Student Assistant Brookhaven National Laboratory $21.50 - $31.75 / hr United States, York, Upton 20 Brookhaven Ave (Show on map) Mar 26, 2026 The Summer Policy Student (SPS) will interface between the Office of Workforce Development & Science Education Programs (WDSE) and the interns, teachers, and college faculty during their participation in the summer programs. This SPS will report directly to the Sr. Research Programs Representative, collaborate with WDSE Administrative Assistants, and interact with the Writing Coach while performing the following (but not limited to) duties and skills listed below. This position is full-time and on-site. Candidate must have reliable transportation to/from the Lab.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in scheduling, coordinating, and planning intern summer activities, meetings, and lectures as needed Enforce BNL safety regulations and program expectations Assist in monitoring intern deliverables Support students and program leads in program deliverables as needed Chaperone during on-site and/or off-site activities Provide a final report on lessons learned for the summer program

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be an upper-level college (rising Junior or Senior) or graduate student enrolled in STEM Must work well in dynamic group settings Strong interpersonal and communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, including

Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Former BNL internship participant Formal or informal teaching experience Bilingual skills

Additional Information:

This is a fully onsite position located at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. The target start date is May 26th- August 14th. Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
