Job Description

Position Information Position Title Student Assistant for Comptroller's Office (Work-Study) (Student) Academic Year 2026-2027 UIW Mission University of the Incarnate Word is a Catholic institution that welcomes to its community persons of diverse backgrounds, in the belief that their respectful interaction advances the discovery of truth, mutual understanding, self-realization, and the common good. Position Summary The Student Assistant will support the accountants and staff in the Comptroller's Office by assisting with accounting, clerical, and other duties as assigned. The Student Assistant will report to the Director of Financial Operations. This position is funded by the Federal Work-Study program and is open to UIW students who are approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program. Essential Functions Assist Accountants. Post, scan and append journal entries. Assist with reconciliations. Create and/or update spreadsheets. Run errands within Main Campus. General office duties (copying, filing, etc.). Communicate with and assist visitors when there is a limited staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities Proficient in Excel and Word. Consistent, dependable, and accurate in carrying out responsibilities. Good attitude, self-starter, communicate effectively, motivated. Strong attention to detail. Good organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA. Required Education Current UIW student approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program. Required Work Experience Experience using excel; Basic computer experience using Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications None. Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations None. Work Hours Monday-Friday, 8 am-5pm, flexible schedule. Max of up to 20 hours a week depending on school schedule. Physical Demands Ability to lift 10-20 lbs to move boxes to storage and/or shred bin.
