RN/MAP INSTRUCTOR, MAP

(Medication Administration Program) Consultant to lead and manage a comprehensive MAP program assessment, compliance review, staff training, and quality-improvement project for a major behavioral health organization in Berkshire County, Massachusetts . The consultant will serve as the primary project consultant and will work directly with organizational leadership, program directors, supervisors, and staff across multiple DMH-licensed programs and locations. professional who has strong knowledge of Massachusetts MAP requirements, DMH regulations, medication administration practices, documentation, staff competency, quality assurance, and compliance oversight. Project Overview The consultant will assist with a comprehensive review and restructuring of the organization's MAP program. The project will involve visiting multiple program locations throughout Berkshire County, evaluating current practices, identifying compliance and operational gaps, recognizing successful practices, developing corrective recommendations, and providing in-person staff training and implementation support . The initial project is scheduled for: November 2, 2026 - November 14, 2026 The consultant should be available for significant onsite participation during this period. Key ResponsibilitiesMAP Program Assessment Conduct comprehensive onsite assessments of MAP practices. Review medication administration procedures and workflows. Evaluate compliance with applicable Massachusetts MAP and DMH requirements. Review medication-related policies and procedures. Evaluate staff competency and training practices. Review medication documentation and recordkeeping. Assess medication-error prevention, reporting, and follow-up practices. Evaluate supervisory and administrative oversight. Identify compliance risks and operational deficiencies. Identify strengths and practices that are working effectively. Multi-Location Program Review Travel to applicable program locations throughout Berkshire County. Evaluate consistency of MAP practices between locations. Compare practices across programs. Identify high-performing practices that can be replicated. Develop recommendations for standardizing MAP practices. Work with leadership to prioritize corrective actions. Staff Training The consultant will conduct in-person training and education for applicable staff, including: MAP requirements and responsibilities Medication administration best practices Medication documentation Medication error prevention Medication error reporting Staff accountability Supervisor responsibilities Quality assurance Regulatory compliance Best practices in community-based and group-living settings Leadership & Implementation Support Meet with program leadership and supervisors. Present assessment findings. Develop practical corrective-action recommendations. Assist leadership with implementation of recommendations. Provide coaching to supervisors and managers. Recommend systems for ongoing MAP monitoring and quality assurance. Prepare written findings and recommendations. Required Qualifications Candidates should have substantial professional experience with Massachusetts MAP programs and should have a strong understanding of applicable Massachusetts regulations and DMH expectations.

Preferred qualifications include:

MAP certification or advanced MAP-related credentials. RN, LPN, or other relevant clinical/professional background. Experience working with Massachusetts DMH-licensed programs. Experience conducting MAP assessments or compliance audits. Experience providing MAP training. Experience with medication administration in group homes, residential programs, behavioral health programs, developmental disability programs, or community-based settings. Strong knowledge of medication documentation and quality assurance. Experience developing corrective-action plans. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to independently assess programs and communicate findings professionally. Ability to work effectively with executives, managers, supervisors and direct-care staff. Strongly Preferred Experience We are particularly interested in candidates who have previously: Conducted MAP compliance audits. Assisted organizations with DMH compliance. Managed or supervised MAP programs. Served as a MAP trainer or consultant. Worked across multiple residential or community-based locations. Conducted staff competency assessments. Developed MAP policies, procedures or quality-assurance systems. Assisted organizations following regulatory findings or compliance concerns. Travel Requirements This position requires onsite travel throughout Berkshire County, Massachusetts . The consultant must be comfortable traveling between multiple program locations and working onsite with staff and leadership. Travel, accommodation and reasonable project-related expenses will be addressed as part of the consulting agreement. Schedule The initial engagement is expected to involve approximately 80 consulting hours over two weeks: Phase I - November 2-6, 2026 Comprehensive assessment, site visits, documentation review, interviews and leadership consultation. Phase II - November 9-14, 2026 In-person staff training, implementation support, coaching and quality-improvement activities. Additional consulting work may be available following successful completion of the initial project. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is an experienced MAP professional who can independently take responsibility for a complex multi-location project. We are looking for someone who can: Assess → Identify → Recommend → Train → Implement → Monitor The consultant must be comfortable entering an established organization, objectively evaluating current practices, identifying both strengths and deficiencies, communicating findings professionally, and helping staff and leadership implement sustainable improvements. Compensation Competitive project-based consulting compensation based on qualifications and experience. Candidates should indicate their expected hourly or project consulting rate when applying. Reasonable approved travel, accommodation and project-related expenses will be addressed separately as part of the consulting agreement.
