$73,000-$75,000 (salary commensurate with education and experience) The Department of Health Sciences at Westfield State University invites applications for a temporary full-time faculty position in Health Sciences at the Instructor level for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Department is looking for a faculty member with expertise in community health and public policy within health. The ideal candidate would also have experience in local organizations and health networks. The Department seeks an energetic educator with a commitment to teaching and learning, rooted in a broad-based liberal arts education and critical inquiry. Westfield State University is proud to be a teaching university, where faculty are encouraged to develop innovative pedagogy for the classroom. The teaching load is 24 credits each year, typically 12 credits each semester. In addition to the development and teaching of undergraduate courses, faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activity, which can take many different forms. Faculty provide academic advising and other support to students. Opportunities to advise student research are available and encouraged. Faculty are also expected to offer service to the department, university, and community.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications Include:
Candidates should have a Master's degree or higher in Health Sciences, Public Policy, Public Health or related fields. Candidates must have prior teaching experience at the college level. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching. Candidates should be familiar with, and comfortable with, teaching through a Community Health lens. Preference for candidates working on becoming certified in offering the Healthcare Worker Certification (a Massachusetts licensure).

Salary:
Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies. State job specifications may be found on the Department of Higher Education's webpage .

the MA State Employee Retirement System provides eligible employees with a retirement pension following a 10-year vesting period. In lieu of the retirement pension, eligible employees may select the Optional Retirement Plan with a maximum 5% employer matching contribution.
