Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare and teach all levels of courses within the Medical Sonography curriculum as needed. Min Salary Mid Salary Duties/Functions Difficult Challenges Contacts Education Required Bachelor's degree in Medical Sonography or an Associate's degree in Sonography and a Bachelor's degree in a health, science or education related field from an institutionally accredited college/university Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer ( RDMS ) credential Current Registered Vascular Technologist ( RVT ) credential Education Preferred Master's degree from an institutionally accredited college/university Additional specialty credentials, i.e., abdomen and/or OB/ GYN Experience Required Three years' experience in Medical Sonography clinical practice. Teaching and/or industry training experience in medical sonography topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars Experience Preferred Greater than three years of experience in Sonography clinical practice. Post secondary teaching experience in Medical Sonography. Experience as an instructor in a JRCDMS -accredited Sonography program. Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes. Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems. KSA Required The Faculty Member shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its "open door" policy. He/she shall have demonstrated personal and professional competence for the responsibilities assigned. Apply principles of radiation safety. Reinforce sonographic content published in textbooks. The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire with annual refresher training thereafter: (additional training may be added as needed) Reporting Requirements.
