Job Description

Job Title:
Radiation Therapy Clinical Coordinator/Faculty Reports To:
Program Chair Professional Objective:
The RTT Clinical Coordinator/Faculty competently, compassionately and professionally supports the clinical and didactic education of Radiation Therapy students and participates in training competent entry-level Radiation Therapists in the various learning domains required for professional practice. The Clinical Coordinator/Faculty provides quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations in the Radiation Therapy program (RTT). This individual has responsibility for selecting and approving appropriate clinical sites, providing orientation for the on-site supervisors, providing oversight of the clinical experience, supervision and on-site evaluation of students and clinical instructors in clinical settings and the clinical affiliate site. Faculty member responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, advising, professional development, and community relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the RTT Clinical Coordinator / Faculty include: 1. Clinical Education Coordination Coordinate clinical education in alignment with program objectives, accreditation standards, and institutional policies Develop and maintain student clinical rotation schedules in collaboration with the Program Chair Ensure clinical experiences support progressive learning, competency development, and clearly defined behavioral objectives Monitor student clinical assignments to ensure appropriate supervision and meaningful learning opportunities Procure and maintain a diverse range of qualified clinical affiliate sites 2. Student Supervision, Evaluation & Competency Evaluate and document student clinical performance through: Clinical competencies Site evaluations Spot-check assessments Ensure completion of all required clinical competencies for professional practice Monitor student attendance, performance, and progression at clinical sites Assess both technical competencies and professional ("soft") skills Provide timely feedback, coaching, and remediation as needed Meet regularly with students to review progress, expectations, and concerns Conduct meetings with students entering, returning to, or requiring additional support in clinical settings Document student counseling, performance concerns, and corrective actions Ensure adherence to safe, ethical, and professional patient care practices 3. Clinical Site Coordination & Engagement Serve as liaison between the program and clinical affiliate sites Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinical instructors and site staff Conduct regular clinical site visits (at least once per student per rotation) to evaluate: Student progress Clinical learning environment Clinical instructor effectiveness Obtain and maintain required documentation, including signed clinical site visit reports and student evaluations Provide orientation, guidance, and ongoing support to clinical instructors Maintain up-to-date records of clinical instructors, site agreements, and affiliate documentation Collaborate with clinical instructors to assess student readiness, technical skills, and appropriate site placement 5. Student Support & Professional Development Coach students on clinical expectations, workplace readiness, and professional behavior Support development of communication, interpersonal, and other professional ("soft") skills Address student needs and resolve concerns with professionalism, diplomacy, and tact Collaborate with Career Services to support transition from clinical education to employment Meet with students requiring additional academic or clinical guidance 6. Program Support & Accreditation Support the Program Director in maintaining compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., JRCERT) Participate in accreditation activities, data collection, and program assessment initiatives Evaluate the effectiveness of clinical education through student outcomes, site feedback, and visit reports Assist with student recruitment, orientation, and program-related events Participate in faculty meetings, advisory committee meetings, and institutional functions 7. Professional Responsibilities Maintain current knowledge of radiation therapy practices and educational methodologies Participate in continuing education and professional development activities Demonstrate professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Be accessible and responsive to students, faculty, and clinical affiliates as needed The responsibilities of a Faculty member include, but are not limited to, the following: Teach assigned RTT lecture and lab courses in accordance with established HBS approved curriculum and course outlines and relates the instruction to careers and employer expectations. Prepare and grade examinations based upon course objectives and published exam schedule and return all assignments in a timely manner. Effectively teach and communicate with students of diverse backgrounds. Participate in professional development, RTT advisory committee meetings, student and other educational activities. Participate in the evaluation, revision and development of curriculum and instructional methods. Communicate effectively in memos, letters, and via email. Be available via email and phone for students and site managers beyond assigned work hours. Begin and end each class at the designated times, providing a full period of instruction. Leave the classroom or laboratory clean, organized, and ready for the next user. Submit, at the designated time, final grades for all students on the class roster. Accurately maintain attendance records in accordance with the Attendance Policy. Attend faculty meetings, in-service meetings, graduation and other events as required by the School. Dress professionally in accordance with faculty dress code if onsite. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the Clinical Coordinator/Faculty must be knowledgeable in the program curriculum, as evidenced by education and/or experience, and effective in evaluating student learning and performance. The responsibilities and duties listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The Clinical Coordinator/Faculty must also possess a high degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, regulations, and codes of conduct governing all aspects of job responsibilities and be committed to the success of the students and the school.
Education :
Minimum of Baccalaureate degree
Experience:
Minimum of three years as a professional Radiation Therapist.
Preferred:
experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program
Licenses and Certificates:
Current certification & registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and license to practice as a Radiation Therapist by the Department of Health, State of NY.
Additional Requirements:
Must meet the minimum qualifications for Clinical Instructor in Radiation Therapy of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
