Sep 24, 2028 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time The Division of Addiction Medicine within the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for multiple faculty positions in Addiction Medicine in the non-tenure Academic Clinician (AC) track. Successful candidates will hold an M.D. or D.O. degree and must have primary board in a recognized ABMS or AOA Specialty and must be board certified in Addiction Medicine. They should have experience in hospital-based addiction medicine consultation and in underserved and vulnerable patient care and an interest in a career in academic medicine. Preferred candidates will have completion of an Addiction Medicine fellowship; experience in inpatient consultation services; experience caring for patients with opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders; experience working in Bridge/OTP or low-barrier treatment programs. Teaching responsibilities may include participation in the education and supervision of residents, fellows, and medical students in inpatient, consultative, ambulatory, and Bridge/OTP settings. Opportunities for educational leadership and program development may be available for the right candidate. Clinical responsibilities may include clinical care based primarily at Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, HUP Cedar, Bridge/Opioid Treatment Services (OTP) services, and other Penn Medicine-affiliated clinical settings. Faculty may participate in ambulatory addiction medicine, Bridge/OTP services, treatment of opioid and other substance use disorders, hospital-based addiction treatment, community-based addiction services, resident and fellow supervision, and multidisciplinary care coordination. All faculty members will devote a portion of their clinical effort to inpatient Addiction Medicine consult services at one or more Penn Medicine hospitals, including Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and HUP Cedar. The Division of Addiction Medicine is recruiting for three full-time faculty positions that will support Penn Medicine's growing addiction medicine clinical, educational, and community programs. These positions offer flexibility in clinical practice location and scope while supporting access to evidence-based addiction treatment across Penn Medicine. The Division of Addiction Medicine serves diverse patients across Philadelphia, including many individuals and communities that have historically experienced barriers to health care access and health equity. We seek candidates who demonstrate a commitment to caring for medically and socially complex patient populations and who have experience working in underserved communities and resource-limited clinical settings. Academic Clinician faculty are not required to maintain an independent research program; however, scholarly activity, quality improvement, curriculum development, and educational innovation are encouraged and supported.
