  • Instructor of Medicine - Emory Hospital Midtown Chief Resident, Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine.
The chief resident position is a one year selected and salaried position. The chief resident has a variety of academic and administrative responsibilities. The primary purpose of the chief resident position is to serve as an intermediary/liaison between residents and faculty as well as hospital and clinic staff. The primary function of this position is to aid in the communication process between the groups, help in the dissemination of information and assist medicine residents in understanding and complying with residency policies and procedures. The chief resident position will serve as a role model through active teaching and assisting residents, and maintain an atmosphere of cooperation among all residents. Scholarship
  • You will be expected to devote between 1% and 25% of your total professional effort to scholarly activities.
  • In keeping with the School of Medicine Guidelines for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure, you are expected to participate in scholarship, which may include authorship of manuscripts, participation in research studies, abstract presentations, professional blogs, and other scholarly activities.   • You will be expected to devote between 1% and 25% of your total professional effort to teaching.
  • In keeping with the School of Medicine Guidelines for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure, you are expected to participate in teaching, which may include occasional lectures, small group and bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mentorship. Professional Service
  • You will be expected to devote between 1% and 25% of your total professional effort to professional service.
  • In keeping with the School of Medicine Guidelines for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure, you are expected to participate in service to the institution and your profession, such as committee work and other administrative service, conference organization, peer review, limited patient care activities and other citizenship activities.
You will directly report to Dr. Reena Hemrajani who is the Program Director for the J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program and to Jada Bussey-Jones who is the Section Chief for General Medicine at Grady. Dr. Bussey-Jones reports directly to Dr. Ted Johnson who is the Division Director of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Johnson reports to Dr. David Stephens, Chair of the Department of Medicine.
NOTE:
Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
