What You'll Do The University of Michigan Law School is seeking to hire a visiting clinical professor to teach in its Michigan Innocence Clinic (MIC) during the winter `27 semester (January-May) with the possibility of beginning in fall `26. MIC works to exonerate innocent criminal defendants who have been convicted in state or federal court in Michigan. MIC primarily works on cases where there is no DNA to test, and so the work of the Clinic largely involves finding new witnesses, searching for suppressed evidence, and challenging discredited or outdated forensic science. In its 17-year history, MIC has secured victories in 48 cases on behalf of clients who served anywhere from a few months to over 46 years in prison for crimes they did not commit. In addition to supervising law students while working collaboratively to litigate cases of the MIC's clients, this position entails co-teaching the clinic seminar. Required Qualifications• Ideal candidates will have significant experience in post-conviction litigation and/or clinical supervision and teaching. Candidates must hold a J.D. and be licensed to practice law. . Modes of Work Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
