May assist or lead in the creation of the health science curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field.

This part-time opportunity to teach one or more courses in a variety of specialty areas is available as needed. Courses may be offered in spring and/or fall terms at the CVM campus in Pendleton, SC. Instruction may include didactic lectures, laboratory sessions, clinical teaching and/or consultation on clinical cases. The start date and details of course delivery vary according to departmental teaching needs. The CVM is currently seeking accreditation by the American Veterinary Medicine Association-Council on Education to offer the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree to approximately 80 students per cohort starting in 2026 (pending approval). The CVM plans to utilize a partially distributive model of clinical training for students. Its brand-new state of the art campus will reside in Pendleton, SC, near the T. Ed Garrison Arena, will house research and teaching labs, and utilize both ambulatory services as well as teaching sites at the Clemson University Equine Center, Lamaster Dairy Cattle Center, and other locations for education in the field. In 2023, the Board of Trustees approved Clemson Elevate, the university's new strategic plan.
