JOB DESCRIPTION

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) John Sealy School of Medicine in Galveston is seeking a full-time Hematology & Oncology Physician-Scientist the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This is a unique opportunity to join a nationally recognized academic health system and a collaborative team of clinicians and researchers. This position offers the opportunity to engage in clinical care, contribute to the education of pediatric residents and medical students, and develop a productive funded research program.

Position Overview:

This full-time academic role combines clinical care, teaching and research within a collaborative health system.

The successful candidate will:

Join a multidisciplinary team to support the institutional clinical, educational and research missions. Provide comprehensive pediatric hematology & oncology care across inpatient and outpatient settings. Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows. Lead the development of a clinical and/or basic research program within the Department of Pediatrics.

Qualifications:

Required M.D. or D.O. degree from an LCME or COCA accredited medical school. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Fellowship. Board Certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology & Oncology. Ability to obtain an unrestricted State of Texas Physician License. Current

U.S. DEA

Practitioner registration. U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S. Demonstrated commitment to patient care and medical education. Demonstrated clinical and/or basic science research productivity. Preferred Three or more years of post-fellowship clinical experience in Pediatric Hematology & Oncology. Prior academic experience in resident and medical student education. Current transferable funded research.

Income Package:

Salary will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, and experience. The position includes a provision for dedicated research time.
