Job Description
The Director of Athletics, commonly referred to as A.D., at SAU Tech will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the institution's athletic programs. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, budgeting, fundraising, personnel management, and compliance with NJCAA, State of Arkansas, and SAU Systems rules and regulations. This position is designed to maximize institutional resources while maintaining a competitive, student-focused athletic environment. This is a 12-month, 40 hours per week, on-campus position. If not residing in Camden or surrounding area, relocation is required. - Provide overall direction and supervision of all athletic programs.
- Ensure compliance with NJCAA and institutional policies and regulations.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to grow and strengthen athletics at SAU Tech.
- Support coaches in recruiting efforts to build competitive rosters.
- Assist in developing new athletic opportunities and community partnerships.
- Strengthen relationships with local high schools and feeder programs. Budget & Resource Management
- Oversee athletic department budgeting, allocation of funds, and financial planning.
- Identify cost-saving measures and revenue-generating opportunities.
- Manage equipment, facilities, and travel logistics efficiently. Student-Athlete Success
- Promote academic achievement, retention, and graduation of student-athletes.
- Support eligibility tracking and academic monitoring in collaboration with academic services.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined athletic culture. Gameday Operations
- Coordinate all aspects of home athletic events, including staffing, scheduling, and logistics.
- Ensure a high-quality experience for student-athletes, fans, and visiting teams.
- Oversee event setup, ticketing, and facility readiness. Athletic Training Development
- Monitor and promote athlete safety during practice and games
- Improve processes to addresses injuries when they happen
- Refer athletes for further medical treatment when needed
- Oversee use of training room scheduling and medical equipment use
- Develop an avenue to utilize an athletic trainer for all programs during gameday and recovery treatment Fundraising and External Relations
- Lead fundraising initiatives, including donor cultivation, sponsorship development, and special events.
- Collaborate with the SAU Tech Foundation and community partners to secure financial support for scholarships, facilities, and program enhancements.
- Strengthen community engagement and promote SAU Tech Athletics through marketing, outreach, and public relations efforts. NJCAA Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with governing bodies.
- Prepare reports related to athletic performance, budgets, and participation.
- Uphold safety standards and risk management practices.

NJCAA Compliance Officers Required/Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in sports management, education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in coaching, athletic administration, or both, preferably within intercollegiate athletics.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with NJCAA programs and regulations preferred
