Job Description

Job Summary:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is seeking a dedicated and energetic Pickleball Coach to lead our middle school pickleball program. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, patience, and a passion for working with youth while teaching fundamental and advanced skills in pickleball. You will play a key role in promoting teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship through structured practices and competitive play.

Athletic Director Pay & Benefits:
$25.00 per hour Meaningful, hands-on experience in youth coaching and athletic leadership. Supportive and collaborative team environment. Opportunity to positively impact the lives of young athletes. Coaching reference and professional development support through the Club network.

Practice Schedule:
Practices will be two days a week on Wednesday & Friday 2:45 PM
  • 4:15 PM (coaches have to arrive 30 minutes early and except to leave 15 minutes after practice to clean up and take down nets) Practices Start
  • September 14th (first practice) Practices End
  • November 6th (last practice)
Tournaments:
Four guaranteed Saturday tournament events (9:30AM-12:00PM) at local venues Local venue examples: Rally House Pickleball, Vista Pickleball Club Tournaments will be on
Saturdays:
October 10th, October 17th, October 24th and November 7th
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and lead engaging pickleball practices for beginner through advanced players. Teach proper techniques, footwork, scoring, and game strategy in a safe and positive setting. Foster an environment that encourages teamwork, inclusion, and personal growth. Supervise students during practices and tournaments, ensuring safety and discipline. Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to support player development. Maintain and set up pickleball courts and equipment as needed. Communicate with parents, guardians, and club staff regarding schedules, updates, and student progress. Stay current with coaching techniques and youth athletic development practices. Assist with tournament organization, student entries, and coordination as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of sports coaching or athletic instruction experience (required). Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth or students (required). Familiarity with pickleball (required). Must be at least 18 years old. Must successfully pass a background check (required by Boys & Girls Clubs). Reliable transportation to and from practices and tournaments.
