This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage. Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The GPA Recalculation Specialist supports Chapman University's Office of Admission during the undergraduate application review cycle by accurately and consistently recalculating grade point averages for first-year applicants according to established University policies and procedures. Working within Slate and the application Reader, the GPA Recalculation Specialist reviews high school transcripts and related academic documentation, identifies relevant coursework and grading information, and applies Chapman's established GPA recalculation methodology across a wide variety of secondary school curricula and grading systems. This is a high-volume, detail-oriented position requiring accuracy, consistency, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently within established guidelines and deadlines. The GPA Recalculation Specialist may also support additional application processing and operational functions during peak periods of the admission cycle. Responsibilities GPA Recalculation and Academic Record Review Review first-year applicant academic records within Slate Reader and accurately calculate GPAs according to Chapman University's established methodology, policies, and procedures. Review high school transcripts, school profiles, self-reported academic records, and other relevant documentation necessary to complete GPA calculations. Interpret grades presented across varying curricula, grading scales, and academic systems, including weighted and unweighted grades, percentages, and alternative grading structures. Apply Chapman's established standards consistently across applicants to support a standardized application review process. Accurately enter and/or verify GPA calculations and related academic information within Slate. Identify incomplete, inconsistent, or unusual academic records and escalate questions to designated Admission staff when additional review or guidance is required. Maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity while processing a significant volume of applicant records within established turnaround expectations and admission deadlines. Protect the confidentiality and security of applicant information and educational records in accordance with University policies and applicable regulations. Application Processing and Operational Support Support additional application review and processing activities as assigned during peak periods of the admission cycle. Assist with quality-control processes related to academic records, application materials, and applicant data. Participate in training, calibration exercises, and ongoing quality assurance to ensure consistent application of GPA recalculation policies across the team. Communicate questions, trends, or recurring issues to Admission leadership to support efficient and consistent processing. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Office of Admission and undergraduate enrollment process. Required Qualifications Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to perform highly accurate work involving academic or other complex records. Ability to learn and consistently apply established policies, procedures, formulas, and guidelines. Ability to interpret high school transcripts, grading scales, course information, and related academic documentation. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a high volume of work within established deadlines. Ability to work independently while recognizing circumstances requiring clarification or escalation. Strong written communication skills and ability to communicate questions clearly and concisely. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive student and applicant information. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment. Proficiency with standard computer applications and ability to learn University systems and technology. Desired Qualifications Previous professional experience in undergraduate admission, college counseling, secondary education, registrar/records operations, enrollment management, or a related field. Experience reviewing high school transcripts or evaluating secondary school academic records. Familiarity with U.S. secondary school curricula, grading practices, course rigor, and variations among high school academic programs. Experience interpreting international secondary school curricula or grading systems. Previous experience with Technolutions Slate, particularly Slate Reader or application processing. Previous experience performing high-volume, detail-oriented data review or processing. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
