Major Function:
The Dean of Students will collaborate with the Leadership Team to instill a climate in the school that is conducive to student learning emphasizing mutual respect and safety. The dean will apply specialized expertise in the enforcement of the school's provisions regarding the maintenance of discipline and attendance within the school. Finally, the dean will plan and coordinate safety and security measures as well as supervise the maintenance and cleanliness of the school facilities to meet state statutes and codes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand and apply the due process in a considerate and dignified manner.
- Able to promote high expectations, demonstrate a caring attitude, and establish an environment that supports high achievement in students.
- Uses positive and productive techniques for improving student behavior.
- Reports regularly to parents using a variety of strategies and are responsive to parental concerns.
- Enforce school rules, manage student behavior, and maintain accurate records of student attendance and conduct.
- Assists the Leadership Team in the development and implementation of the school's safety plan which includes the crisis management/emergency response plans.
- Develop and implement the school's Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS).
- Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties to assist the principal in managing the school.
- Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with district policies and state laws; receives referrals and confers with students, parents, teachers, community agencies, and law enforcement; responds to and resolves parent, student, and staff concerns and complaints.
- Lead, organize, manage, and supervise all maintenance and custodial operations of the school in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Actively participates as a team member during meetings with faculty, staff, and administration in reaching the school's goals.
- Must be enthusiastic, flexible, and committed to students reaching high learning standards.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, students, families, and community members.
- Demonstrate strong skills in partnering with families and being a team player. Commit to meeting the needs of the school, students, families, and communities.
- Maintain excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and a strong, regular personal attendance record.
- Attend meetings of parents and other groups; may provide supervision for afternoon and evening activities.
- Works with the Principal to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students.
- Participates in the MTSS process for students with behavioral issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay:
$57,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
