Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and visionary Dean of Students to lead our student affairs and foster a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive school community. This pivotal role involves overseeing student discipline, promoting positive behavior, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for learners across all grade levels. The Dean of Students will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, parents, and external partners to develop programs that enhance student well-being, academic success, and personal growth. The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership, management expertise, and a passion for educational excellence to inspire both students and staff alike. Duties Duties and ResponsibilitiesStudent Discipline & Behavior Management ☐ Administer and enforce the school's Student Code of Conduct and district discipline policies. ☐ Investigate student disciplinary incidents, including interviewing students, staff members, and witnesses. ☐ Determine appropriate disciplinary consequences consistent with district policy and Florida law. ☐ Maintain accurate documentation of disciplinary referrals, interventions, consequences, and parent contacts. ☐ Address recurring behavioral concerns through progressive discipline and intervention strategies. ☐ Coordinate in-school suspension, detention, loss of privileges, behavior contracts, and other disciplinary interventions. ☐ Make recommendations concerning out-of-school suspension or other serious disciplinary actions when appropriate. ☐ Monitor students returning from suspension and establish re-entry expectations when necessary. ☐ Identify patterns of student misconduct and develop strategies to reduce recurring problems. Student Safety & Campus Supervision ☐ Maintain a visible administrative presence throughout the school campus. ☐ Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, class changes, assemblies, and other high-traffic periods. ☐ Respond promptly to fights, disturbances, threats, and other student safety concerns. ☐ Assist with investigations involving threats, weapons, drugs, vaping, harassment, bullying, and other serious violations. ☐ Coordinate with the School Resource Officer (SRO) and other public-safety personnel when appropriate. ☐ Assist administration with emergency drills, evacuations, lockdowns, and other school safety procedures. ☐ Monitor areas of campus where behavioral or safety concerns frequently occur. ☐ Assist with maintaining orderly student movement throughout the school day.
