Since 1939, Blessed Sacrament Catholic School has partnered with families in Savannah to provide an exceptional Catholic education rooted in faith, academic excellence, and service. Founded under the guidance of Father James H. Conlin and the Sisters of Mercy, BSS continues a legacy of forming the whole child - mind, body, and spirit - in a community where students are known, challenged, supported, and inspired to become the people God created them to be.
OUR MISSION
Rooted in faith and committed to academic excellence, the community of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School prepares and empowers children to lead, love, and serve God, the Church, and the world. Blessed Sacrament exists today because generations before us believed enough in Catholic education to give their time, talent, prayer, leadership, and financial support. The next chapter of BSS will depend on people who believe in that mission just as deeply - and on someone who can build the relationships that invite them to become part of it.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Blessed Sacrament is seeking a mission-driven, relationship-centered, strategic, and creative Director of Advancement to build a comprehensive school advancement program. This leader will connect our history to our future by cultivating relationships with parents, alumni, grandparents, parishioners, benefactors, foundations, businesses, and community partners and by helping each understand the difference their generosity can make in the lives of children. This is not simply a fundraising position. It is an opportunity to tell the story of Blessed Sacrament, build authentic relationships around that story, invite others into the mission, demonstrate the impact of generosity, and cultivate a lasting culture of stewardship and gratitude.
THE DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT WILL LEAD
Annual giving and donor-participation strategies. Major-gift cultivation, stewardship, and future planned/legacy giving. Georgia and American GOAL donor cultivation and relationships. Alumni engagement, records, communications, reunions, and relationship-building. Grant research, proposals, reporting, and foundation/corporate partnerships. Collaboration with the Blessed Sacrament School Advisory Board and strategies for endowment growth. Donor stewardship, recognition, impact reporting, and a culture of gratitude. Advancement events, volunteer ambassadors, and community engagement. Planning for future capital initiatives and campaigns. Accurate donor data, reporting, goal-setting, and measurement of advancement results.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS
Passionate about mission and the value of Catholic education. A natural relationship-builder who is warm, trustworthy, approachable, and comfortable meeting new people. An excellent writer, storyteller, communicator, and presenter. Strategic, creative, organized, self-motivated, and attentive to follow-through. Comfortable cultivating donors and inviting support while keeping relationships at the center of the work. Collaborative and able to work with school and parish leadership, the BSS Advisory Board, alumni, parents, volunteers, and community partners. Experienced in advancement, fundraising, nonprofit development, donor relations, alumni relations, communications, sales, or a related field. Able to maintain confidentiality and handle donor and financial information with integrity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred. Three or more years of relevant advancement, fundraising, donor-relations, nonprofit, communications, sales, or relationship-development experience; five years of direct advancement experience preferred. Experience with donor/CRM software, grant writing, major gifts, annual giving, or alumni engagement is highly desirable. Successful completion of Diocese of Savannah background screening and Safe Environment/VIRTUS requirements. Support for the mission, teachings, and values of the Catholic Church and Catholic education.
COMPENSATION
Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, schedule, approved budget, and applicable diocesan employment practices.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
The Director of Advancement will help alumni come home, connect grandparents and friends to the impact of Catholic education, cultivate new community partners, strengthen the BSS Endowment, grow philanthropic support, and help ensure that students who have not yet walked through our doors inherit a school as strong - or stronger - than the one entrusted to us today. We are not simply looking for someone to raise money. We are looking for someone who can build relationships, tell our story, cultivate generosity, honor our legacy, and help secure the future of Catholic education at Blessed Sacrament.
TO APPLY
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter explaining their interest in the mission of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, a resume, and contact information for three professional references to Anthony Rohr, Principal, through Indeed.com. Applications will be reviewed as received.
