Job Summary Support and counsel parents on childcare options related to their individual needs, while working to strengthen the quality of the childcare programs to build a better future for children and families. Assist in recruiting and retaining childcare providers. Duties & Responsibilities Training and Professional Delivery Provide leadership and evaluation to staff by educating and instructing them on policies and procedures. Work with Core staff training them on searching for childcare for families. Schedule staff for phones and / or walk-ins as needed to ensure coverage. Work with staff on attending outreach events. Educate the community to the available outreach and educational programs and services to improve the well-being of individuals promoting self-sufficiency and integrity of families. Educate the community on the services provided by CCRS including training opportunities, CCAP, and quality childcare indicators. Perform yearly or as needed performance evaluations. Follow through on any staff issues needing further training and/or assistance. Program Leadership, Planning, Implementation Build positive relationships with childcare providers, parents, and community members by providing expert guidance of the available resources provided by CCRS and educating them to navigate the available educational information and services related to early care and education in their community. Educate the community on early care and education issues to facilitate change needed in this area by creating, implementing, and evaluating materials and resources. Work with childcare providers to retain them as providers. Educate community partners on childcare provider positions. Program Delivery and Evaluation Manage childcare information and updates received including openings, services, hours, and qualifications through the state databases. Ensure information from training courses, visits, outreach events, etc., is processed within contracted timelines and entered into the data tracking program within required timelines. Organizational Requirements Continue educational development by obtaining at least 15 hours of required job-related workshops, training, coursework, etc., per year. Perform other duties that contribute to the mission of the University of Illinois as assigned. Occasional local, regional, and statewide travel is required Work Schedule, Travel, or Other Job Expectations Occasional local, regional, and/or statewide travel. Specialty Factors Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Community Planning, Child Welfare, ECE, Child Development, or related field. A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in early child development, social services and/or educational programming. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of early childhood development. Ability to interact with the public with strong communication skills. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to prioritize a heavy workload, delivering results on a timeline and providing regular reports of activities and achievements. Proficient with computers and word processing software. Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 10/26/2026. This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship. The budgeted salary range for the position is $45,000 to $55,000. Out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver's License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment. This position will be expected to work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time basis per the University's Workplace Flexibility policy.
