Wheeling High School is seeking dedicated, student-focused Dean of Students to join our leadership team! As Dean of Students , you will play a pivotal role in shaping our school environment by proactively supporting attendance, student discipline, and campus safety. You will collaborate closely with students, staff, families, and community partners to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. What You'll Do:
Monitor and address attendance concerns, working with students, families, and staff to find solutions. Partner with the School Resource Officer and campus safety teams to maintain a safe, welcoming environment. Support and guide staff by conducting observations, coaching, and offering leadership in behavior interventions. Supervise and lead the Campus Safety team, ensuring professional development and effective scheduling. Supervises and evaluates Attendance Assistants. Be a visible, positive presence in hallways, common areas, and school events. Serve as a key resource for student discipline, working to implement fair and effective interventions. Assists in supervising evening and weekend school-related events, specifically all home football games and dances. Facilitate reentry meetings and serve as a leader in student support initiatives. Supervises and evaluates Attendance Assistants. Serves as a facilitator for the Solution Finding Team. Champion equity and inclusion, ensuring all policies and practices reflect our commitment to student success.
What We're Looking For:
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative Endorsement Strong understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions (PBIS) & Response to Intervention (RTI) Knowledge of attendance and behavior procedures under Illinois State School Code Administrative experience preferred Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Bilingual proficiency A passion for student success and a commitment to equity in education

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary Range:
Administrative Salary Grade One
  • $134,511
  • $168,138 Longevity bonus of 1% for those at the top of the salary range Medical, dental, and life insurance plans tailored for you and your family Contribution to TRS (Teachers' Retirement System) for eligible employees 403(b) & 457(b) participation 14 sick days and 4 personal leave days each year Paid bereavement leave Employee Assistance Program Tuition reimbursement for approved courses Mentorship and development programs designed to prepare you for career advancement $2,000 bonus for completing a pre-approved doctoral program Cell phone stipends for 24/7 on-call positions
