  • $131,250 Position Summary The Associate Principal of Chesterton High School serves as a key member of the leadership team, supporting the Principal in advancing a culture of excellence rooted in high expectations, student achievement, and strong relationships.
This role is instrumental in promoting a positive and inclusive school environment while supporting instructional growth, student engagement, and the overall success of all students. The Associate Principal plays a critical role in shaping academic programming, instructional practices, and college and career readiness, while reinforcing Chesterton's commitment to Believing and Achieving and a culture grounded in respect, responsibility, collaboration, and empathy. Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership & Academic Programming Lead and support academic programming to ensure alignment with district goals, state requirements, and student needs. Oversee and support the Dual Credit program, ensuring rigorous course offerings and increased student access and success. Engage in ongoing learning and implementation of new Indiana diploma requirements, ensuring alignment of course offerings and student pathways. Analyze student performance data to inform decisions related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices. Create the master schedule through working with the Principal and the Department Chairs, with an emphasis on maximizing opportunities for students. Collaborate with department leaders and instructional staff to implement targeted interventions and improve student outcomes. Assist in the teacher evaluation process, including observations, feedback, and professional growth support. Oversee assigned departments for evaluation, support, and problem-solving, ensuring instructional effectiveness, equity, and alignment. Professional Development & Staff Support Assist in the development, organization, and implementation of professional development aligned with school and district priorities. Support instructional coaching practices and encourage teacher growth through collaboration and reflective practices. Promote initiatives such as UDL, trauma-informed practices (TBRI), and innovative instructional strategies. Ensure alignment with data, professional development, and instruction of the Continuous Improvement Plan. Implement the structure, support, and effectiveness of the PLC's. Student Services, Culture, & Discipline Lead student discipline using a restorative and relationship-centered approach that emphasizes growth and accountability. Support a positive school climate that prioritizes student voice, belonging, and engagement. Collaborate with counselors, assistant principals, and support staff to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. Oversee attendance initiatives and interventions to improve student engagement and success. Reinforce school-wide expectations, including adherence to the student device policy and behavior standards. College, Career, & Life Readiness Support and expand Chesterton's internship and career exploration programs, ensuring meaningful real-world learning experiences. Promote college and career readiness through dual credit opportunities, certifications, and postsecondary planning. Support recognition programs such as the Laude System and Honors Plus Seals. School Operations & Safety Assist with daily operations, including supervision, scheduling, and coordination of school events. Oversee arrival/dismissal procedures and building supervision to maintain a safe and orderly environment. Support the development and implementation of school safety protocols and emergency procedures. Assist in organizing key events such as 8th Grade Parent Night, open houses, and student recognition programs. Staff Leadership & Collaboration Foster a collaborative, student-centered professional culture. Assist in hiring, onboarding, and mentoring staff. Support staff in maintaining high expectations for student learning and behavior. Encourage shared leadership and continuous school improvement efforts. Assist in supervising Assistant Principals. Family & Community Engagement Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, behavior, and school initiatives. Build strong partnerships with community organizations to enhance student opportunities. Represent Chesterton High School at school and community events. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Deep understanding of curriculum development, data analysis, and instructional best practices. Highly effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present to large audiences. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions that impact student achievement. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders. Commitment to equity and success for all students.
