Job Description

Overview The corporate and foundation (C&F) relations assistant works under the direction of the associate director of C&F relations and is responsible for the identification, discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects that can, or already do, support Salem State University through grants, sponsorships, and/or annual gifts. The C&F Assistant interacts with the advancement team, university administrators, faculty, staff and volunteers as appropriate. Some early morning, evening, and weekend work may be requested by the supervisor. Salem State University is a place where your career can flourish. Duties and Responsibilities Writing or editing funding proposals, grant applications, solicitation letters, impact/grant/ sponsorship reports fulfillment and similar documents. Establishing and maintaining relationships with business and organization donors/prospects through in-person and virtual visits, events and correspondence to advance the donor relationship. Researching and identifying new C&F funding sources to support current university priorities. Helping the C&F team meet its annual fundraising goals through active donor solicitation and follow-up. Supporting outreach to corporate sponsorships in coordination with the Associate Director, Engagement events. Managing tracking system for ensuring timely follow through with reporting, proposal deadlines and reporting out pipeline of activity. Managing C&F donor stewardship reporting for donors in portfolio. Recording contact reports and proposal information in a timely manner and in accordance with Salem State prospect management procedures. Working cross-departmentally with on-campus academic and faculty partners in support of documentation sourcing, funder portal management and information submissions (reports, surveys, data collection, etc.). Utilizing the current library of grant development materials. Works a part of the C&F team with the associate director and coordinator. Assist when needed with student staff. Other special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree Two or more years of relevant work experience Superior written and oral communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to articulate a compelling case for philanthropic support Demonstrated project management skills Experience and ability to work both collaboratively and independently Proficiency in Windows/Microsoft Office computer applications Preferred Qualifications Experience with corporate and foundation fundraising and/or higher education Thorough understanding of the value of public higher education and ability to articulate that understanding Fundraising experience Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, goal-oriented environment Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects Experience with fundraising and donor management software, preferably Raiser's Edge Working Location This is a hybrid position in Salem, MA with weekly on-campus, in-person responsibilities, which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
