3-4 out of 5 days/week) The Assistant Director of Lead Generation will support a functional area of volunteer strategy and donor discovery for the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (KSAS) in the External Affairs Office at the Johns Hopkins University. The Assistant Director will support programs and initiatives that lead to identification and qualification of donors and volunteers, as well as contribute to the implementation of engagement strategies to create effective donor and alumni relationships. This role will work closely with the Sr. Associate Director of Lead Generation as well as the development and constituent engagement teams to identify new opportunities with a focus on pipeline and discovery prospects from the alumni community for the Krieger School's prospect pipeline. While interaction with constituents at all stages in the development cycle will occur, the Assistant Director will primarily focus on discovery and qualification. The position will craft, execute, and manage a strategic plan to build a pool of potential leadership-level pipeline of donors and volunteers for the school. This involves prospect research and analysis, developing effective engagement strategies as well as collaborating and partnering with the Krieger School gift officers, constituent engagement team, and central Homewood Schools teams. The position will not carry a designated territory but rather will be open to all Krieger School discovery prospects as such, an ability and willingness to travel domestically is essential. The Assistant Director will participate in the planning and execution of alumni-focused programs, events, and activities for students, learners, and alumni for a Development Office (DOFF) in Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) at the Johns Hopkins Institutions. The Alumni Relations Associate will report, analyze, and maintain database information and data and analytics for the assigned alumni population.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Collaborate on the implementation of strategic programs that foster relationships between alumni and JHU, as well as students. Lead the planning of small to medium-scale events and initiatives. Serve as the point of contact for alumni volunteers and/or event speakers. Assist with large-scale events and Initiatives. Lead small programs or committees. Prepare colleagues, faculty, staff, or alumni for their participation. Assist with large-scale programs. Represent the DOFF and Johns Hopkins University at a variety of functions. Identify, recruit, train, steward, and recognize alumni volunteers. Engage alumni groups and organizations in support of their efforts, potential programs, and collaboration opportunities. Implement strategies to ensure accurate alumni records and maintenance in the DAR CRM (JHAS). Analyze alumni data, generate reports, and provide recommendations. Input data into the DAR CRM. Serve as a resource and answer questions about alumni programs, events, and activities. Create, develop, and maintain relationships with alumni, donors, faculty, volunteers, guests, and colleagues. Collaborate on special projects. May serve on DAR-or University-wide committees. Other duties as assigned. In addition to the duties listed above the Assistant Director will: Create and execute a robust alumni discovery plan that establishes strategies to identify and qualify new potential prospects to build a pool of donors and volunteers for the Krieger School team. Designate and implement pre-qualification strategies for leadership annual giving and major gift prospects through discovery calls, personal visits, virtual engagement, and email. Leverage and utilize the JHAS constituent management database and other relevant systems to create a process for identifying and tracking discovery and pipeline prospects within KSAS. Build a strong network of collegial partnerships with development and departmental representatives in areas across the institution with particular focus and collaboration with the Krieger School gift officers and constituent engagement team, as well as the central Hopkins Fund, JHTV, International Programs, and Office of Alumni Relations teams, among others. Partner with the KSAS constituent engagement team to support, ensure event attendance, and recruit key volunteers who could assist in the School's advancement efforts (i.e., mentoring, panel presentation, lectures, etc.). Attend events for strategic prospect/discovery purposes. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Two years of related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Fast-paced, highly variable, and entrepreneurial; this role is best suited for an individual with deft interpersonal skills and collaborative instincts, high adaptability and creativity, intellectual curiosity, a service mindset, and a keen interest in advancing the mission of one of the world's great research universities. Strong data management and data analytics skills to effectively manage discovery plan using the JHAS constituent management database, Microsoft Office suite, and other systems. Experience with Salesforce platform is preferred, but not required. Keen project management skills to determine priorities and manage multiple projects at once. Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills; demonstrated effective writing skills. Comfortable working in a complex, multi-divisional, and fast-paced organization. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the United States for discovery meeting, events, and other KSAS and JHU activities. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel. Must live within commuting distance to the Baltimore campus and able to work on-campus 3+ days per week and remotely the balance of the time. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. JHU Equivalency Formula:
30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
