National Art Honor Society Sponsor

JOB SUMMARY

The national art honor society sponsor is the representative of the principal to ensure that the national art honor society has a reflective representation of the school community. The sponsor will work with the administration, students, staff, and community to assure a successful experience for students. These efforts can be accomplished through after-school meetings, weekend events, induction ceremonies, and art exhibits. Sponsors shall enforce and adhere to the policies, rules, and guidelines of the Board of Education, the school, and the National Art Education Association.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated management, leadership and human relations skills

Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions

Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion

Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor the nomination and selection process based on the rules of the National Art Honor Society and school.

Arrange the induction ceremony including parent notification, purchase of award pins and medals.

Co-ordinate with the calendar committee to select dates and arrange building use as needed.

Conduct monthly meetings.

Arrange monthly studio work time.

Plan and hang student art exhibits.

Plan trips to colleges and arrange transportation of students.

Assist students with portfolio development.

Disseminate scholarship information

Write college recommendations.

Hold fundraising events.

Arrange service projects for the students.

Arrange fieldtrips and special events.

Other duties as assigned by the Principal that will provide for a successful program.

Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Athletic Director

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

References must be directly related to work experience and must include immediate supervisor. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
