Job Description

Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and Operations The Assistant Athletics Director of Communications & Operations will assist the Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs in all media relations, marketing, staff management, and branding within the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department of Athletics. The position will serve as the main media and gameday administrator for women's basketball, softball, bowling and cross country unless otherwise assigned by the Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs.

The Assistant Athletics Director of Communications & Operations will be responsible to supervise all Sports Information Assistants and contractual gameday staff. The successful candidate must be committed to working additional time (evenings, weekends, vacations) as necessary to insure aquality program. Attends all contests as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director.
Salary:
$60,000 TO $65,000

Responsibilities:
  • Serves as main media liaison for assigned sports.
  • Provides social media and website management as well as game dayoperations (facilities, equipment, etc.). within the athletic department.
  • Works closely with the Associate Athletic Directors in promoting andcoordinating operations for the athletic program.
  • Provides administrative and gameday/event coverage as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Preferences:
  • Two years' experience working in collegiate athletics.
  • Must have a depth of knowledge in social media, marketing, graphicdesign.
  • Experience in social media management.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of overall operation of an athletic program.
  • Must be committed to working additional time (evenings and weekends) asnecessary to ensure a quality program.
  • Must be able to attend all contests as assigned by the Associate AthleticsDirector.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to work with a variety with people and in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours.
  • Ability to travel will be expected.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Associate Athletics Director ofExternal Affairs.
Physical Demands:
  • May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting atdesk.
  • May require lifting.
  • Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally andinternally.
  • Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Seven (7) years of professional athletics, payroll, finance, accounting, or project management experience. Two (2) years of experience supervising or managing professional staff.
Other:
Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. Knowledge of project management of large scale and complex athletics related projects. Knowledge of the principles of management and leadership. Knowledge of athletics policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products. Ability to work on multiple projects and programs simultaneously. Ability to conduct research and analysis for aid program development. Ability to analyze data and provide insight and recommendations to stakeholders. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Ability to resolve complex financial related problems by applying various methodologies and deciding between several alternative solutions. Additional Job Details
