The Department of Psychology's Student Academic Affairs Office seeks applicants for a full-time Undergraduate Program Manager to lead and support the department's undergraduate program. This position is responsible for managing program operations, supervising staff, overseeing undergraduate advising, success, and holistic student support, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting curriculum review, and implementing and evaluating program initiatives. The role works closely with students, faculty, staff, and department leadership to advance the goals of the undergraduate program. The Undergraduate Program Manager reports to the Department of Psychology's Director of Student Services and supervises four staff members. Program Administration and Student Services (35%) Collaborate with the Director of Student Services, Chief Administrator, and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies to maintain and develop the undergraduate program Manage budget for undergraduate student support, ensuring timely and accurate processing of student funds each term Manage undergraduate awards and gift funds Oversee departmental faculty teaching awards Coordinate and plan the monthly agendas for the Student Academic Affairs Committee in partnership with the Director, Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies and the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies. Implement, monitor, and evaluate undergraduate program goals that align with the objectives of departmental leadership, LSA and university-wide priorities. Review program processes and introduces improvements Provide data, advice, and support in the development and implementation of departmental initiatives Provide advisement and support on curriculum needs including course offerings and enrollment matters Oversee staff administration of the department's thesis program Provide oversight of staff administering the department's subject pool and ensure regulatory compliance Provide guidance and support to faculty and students in the department's experiential learning programs Represent the department and/or the college at recruitment and retention activities and events. Serve on departmental, college, and/or university-wide committees, task forces, and working groups as designated. Supervision (25%) Provide direct supervision, coaching, mentorship, and leadership to the Undergraduate Program team of four staff members and student temps, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, managing performance, and supporting professional development to ensure effective advising, student success outcomes, and addressing the needs of students and department. Manage the Undergraduate Programs team workload and assesses the capability to provide support for various ongoing and emerging projects Facilitate communication and partnerships between program staff and with other offices and programs in the department, college, and the University. Reinforce expectations by modeling service standards and discussing program goals and mission Advising and Student Support (25%) Provide training, support, and guidance to faculty, staff, and peer advisors. Oversee the maintenance and development of the undergraduate advising and student support program Explore ways in which the undergraduate advising and student support program must evolve to meet the needs of varied student populations and the trends associated with holistic student success, wellbeing, services, and engagement Identify opportunities for improvement and develop initiatives that will contribute to the maintenance of a premier holistic advising and student support program Contribute to student learning and development through providing supplemental coaching, interactive programming, and outreach efforts with students at all phases of their undergraduate academic careers Represent the department at campus-wide and college-wide bi-weekly and monthly Advising Leadership meetings Outreach and Events (15%) Organize events that meet the needs of varied student populations at different stages in their undergraduate careers, including orientation sessions, commencement, holistic student success and wellbeing programming, career fairs, alumni panels, and research forums. Demonstrate a high regard for student success by providing accessible and accurate information about the department and undergraduate majors Deploy appropriate technologies to create efficiencies and enhance the delivery of student resources, initiatives, services, and activities Provide support to student organizations Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of experience in higher education student services. One to two years of experience leading, advising or coaching student groups or teams. Demonstrated success in interpersonal relations, collaboration, reasoning, and exercising sound judgment. Demonstrated ability to formulate strategic plans, implement programs, and evaluate the success of these initiatives. Awareness of and appreciation for the evolving role of technology and social media in all aspects of student affairs, success, and support work. Demonstrated commitment and experience with student success and support work, including implementing evidence-based practices, strategies, and initiatives in a college setting to promote holistic student success, engagement, and wellbeing. Demonstrated ability to handle crises effectively and to solve problems proactively and creatively. High level of proficiency with spreadsheets and database software applications. Event and program planning experience. Ability to thrive independently and as part of a collaborative, positive, and hard-working team. Proven ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities concurrently, delivering high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Demonstrated commitment, enthusiasm and energy for working on behalf of a wide variety of students, their holistic success, wellbeing, their career interests. Professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to outstanding customer service. Demonstrated strong communication skills including verbal, writing, and listening skills. Master's degree in higher education, psychology, or a related field which includes the broad-based study of student development, social identity, and student learning. Three years of experience supporting, advising, coaching, and engaging with varied student groups. One to two years of supervisory experience of professional and/or student staff. Familiarity with LSA and University of Michigan student administration procedures and policies. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000, please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate's experience.
