Job Description

Summary :
The Program Director serves as a supervisor, leader, mentor, and role model to students and personnel in the Nutrition &Human Performance/Applied Nutrition & Dietetics degree program(s). The Program Director is responsible for the development, implementation,and evaluation of the Nutrition & Human Performance/Applied Nutrition & Dietetics curriculum and holds a faculty appointment within theprogram. The Nutrition & Human Performance/Applied Nutrition & Dietetics Program Director will coordinate full-time and adjunctfaculty and scheduling for all assigned degree programs. The Program Director will have responsibilities in coordinating and ensuringquality in-person and online education, as evidenced by existing and future accreditation bodies. The Program Director will also take anactive role in program growth and outreach. Program Directors hold an academic administrative faculty rank and appointment in theirrespective areas of expertise.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide leadership to the academic department toensure appropriate development, ongoing success, and administration. Responsible for the design, development, implementation, andassessment of the program(s) curriculum. Assist with recruitment and retention efforts, advisement, evaluation, counseling, andexternal partnerships to grow and sustain degree program(s) as appropriate. Collaborate with college deans, student supportservices, and other stakeholders to coordinate support for faculty, students, and potential students. In consultation with the Dean,recruit and retain quality faculty, including but not limited to maintaining an adequate adjunct faculty pool. In partnership withthe Dean, design, develop, and implement new faculty and preceptor orientation and faculty development opportunities. Createequitable faculty loads in alignment with the Faculty Handbook. Cultivate a learning centered environment through faculty evaluationand development that supports dynamic and engaging classroom experiences, research and scholarly activities, and service that enhancestudent learning and advance the health profession. Help faculty create professional development plans that foster their growthtoward their short-and long-term goals and evaluate them annually to help assess their growth toward those goals and their fit with theuniversity and program mission, vision, and values. Provide leadership, oversight, and mentoring of faculty related tofaculty/student conflict resolution. Participate in department/college-level strategic planning and budgeting. Developinnovative clinical/internship opportunities (where appropriate) for students and embed them into the curriculum. Monitor courses toensure quality, ensuring that faculty provide a strong, student-focused educational environment through consistent adherence to courserubrics, students' competencies, and course pedagogy. Provide analysis and assessment to determine support needed to improve thequality of degree program(s). Understand and maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations pertaining todistance learning, including State Authorization, NCSARA, HLC, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Maintenance of programmaticaccreditation (if applicable), including Timely submission of fees, reports, and requests for major programchanges. Maintenance of the program's student records, including student advising plans, supervised experiential learning hours, andverification statements. Maintenance of complaints about the program received from students or others, including disposition of thecomplaint. Ongoing review of the program's curriculum to meet the accreditation standards. Facilitation of processes forcontinuous program evaluation and student learning outcomes assessment. Communication with all accreditingbodies. Communication and coordination with program faculty, preceptors, and others involved with the program and itsstudents. Timely submission of required documentation supporting the graduate's eligibility for a credentialing exam isapplicable. The standard teaching load for a Program Director is a minimum of 9 credit hours and a maximum of 15 credit hoursannually. Any teaching assignments that exceed 12 credit hours annually will be compensated separately through an adjunct facultyappointment as supplemental pay . Based on current ACEND standard requirements, the Nutrition and Human Performance/Applied Nutrition andDietetics program director will have a 100% release from teaching load. Per ACEND standards requirement, the institution mustprovide a reduced teaching load for management functions within the program. There is a required minimum FTE allotment that must be devotedto program management based on maximum student enrollment (full- or part-time) per cohort: For cohorts between 11 and 20 students 1full FTE must be allotted to administrative duties. For cohorts of 21 students or more, an additional .5 FTE must beallotted. All other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience:
Doctorate degree in degree or related discipline with 3 years of relatedwork experience. Experience in course development. Experience with learning management systems (Canvas, Jenzabar,etc.).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:
Consistently utilize effectiveinterpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain mental concentration for extended periods of time. Ability toperform multiple duties in addition to departmental responsibilities with frequent interruptions and time pressures. Possess theability to tolerate and implement changes. Ability to perform and function in a manner consistent with mentoring faculty andstudents.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The nature of work requires an ability to operate standard businessoffice equipment. Requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile, and prepare work documents, andset up and maintain work files. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
