$108,280.00 Position Summary The Dean & Director is responsible for the overall operation of the South County Location. Under the direction of the Campus Chief Academic Officer (CCAO) or Vice Chancellor for AcademicAffairs (VCAA),the deanand director haveboththe authorityand responsibility for planning,budgeting,scheduling,personnelmatters,curriculum,instruction,development,other academic matters, and the day-to-day operation of the STLCC - South County. Work includes understanding and addressing the post-secondary needs in the area communities, promoting St. Louis Community College's course offerings and services. The dean and director ensure site compliance with Board Policy, Administrative Procedures, and employee resolutions. Primary Duties Performed Develops, articulates, and presents thevisionfortheSouthCountyincollaboration withsiteanddistrictleadership. Translatesvisionintostrategicgoalsandadvances the college mission in accordance with the strategic planning objectives. Overseesoperationsatthecenterthatprovidesaone-stopservicefor students. Assists academic leadership in providing curricular improvements in relation to college-wide goals by initiating, sustaining, delivering, or eliminating academic programs and core curricula in accordance with strategic planning goals. Supervises construction of class schedules based on student and program needs. Leadsandcoordinatesassessmentactivitiestodocumentandadvancedivisionand college activities, initiatives, and development. Leadsandcoordinatesassigneddistrict-wide initiatives. Qualifications/Experience Five (5) years of full-time experience in higher education including significant teaching experience. Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution required, terminal degree preferred. Progressively responsible administrative experience preferred. Community college experience preferred. Facilitatestheresolutionofdisagreementorconflictamong stakeholders. Ensurestheacademicqualityofspecialprogramsassignedtothe college. Managesallfiscalmattersatsitelevelwithingivenbudget limitations. Consistent with district enrollment management, implements initiatives to promote special events designed to recruit students and promote the college and the center. Conducts evaluation of faculty and staff. Workswithdepartmentchairs,facultyliaisons,andtheCCAOstocreateand facilitate dual credit/dual enrollment opportunities, including identifying opportunities for new partnerships and ensuring compliance at all levels. Collects,analyzes,andutilizesdataforcontinuousprogram improvement. Maintainsprofessionalandtechnicalknowledgeinhighereducation leadership. Developsandrecommendsoperationalstaffpoliciestoassureinnovation,quality, continuousimprovement,andgrowthofthecenterinsupportoftheCollege'sand division's strategic plans and mission. In collaboration with the CCAOs, VCAA, and the Chancellor, establishes communitypartnershipsthatalignwiththemissionandstrategicinitiativesofthe College. Represents the site and the College to students, parents, professional organizations, articulation partners, business, and industry in cooperation with Marketing and Communication. Meetswithareaemployerstoassess trainingandeducation needs. CollaborateswithCenterstaffanddistrictadmissionsstaffinschedulingvisitsto local high schools and in participating in career day activities. Expandsstudentsupportprogramsthatarecommunityandneedsbased. Hosts student recognition events to celebrate academic achievements. Serves in the capacity of a student affairs officer at South County, handling student conduct and other student-related issues as directed by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Communicatesinformationeffectivelytobothsupervisorsand supervisees. Otherdutiesas assigned. Working Conditions Generally, works in an office and campus environment. Most travel is of a local nature with occasional travel outside of the state of Missouri.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Visual acuity to read words and numbers. Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
