The Chairperson, Allied Health performs executive, advanced professional work providing instructional leadership and administrative oversight for an array of disciplinary courses and programs at a comprehensive community college, including Allied Health Pre-Professional, Dietetics, Exercise Science, Health Science, and Public Health. The Chairperson, Allied Health works collaboratively with faculty and staff and with the College's administrative team to provide a high-quality learning environment for students.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Establishes a collaborative working environment and fosters effective communication within the department, division, and campus. Provides a student-centered environment where students can express concerns and suggestions associated with the department and monitors student progression, retention, and completion to support student success. Hires, supervises, mentors, and evaluates full- and part-time faculty and staff, and supports ongoing professional development. Provides oversight and management for program facilities including the exercise science lab, ensuring appropriate safety, and compliance. Prepares reports and maintains records related to departmental activities, develops budget plans for the department, and oversees budget spending throughout the year. Determines the courses offered and the associated faculty for each semester. Works with departmental faculty to develop and approve curricula, select textbooks, implement new instructional and support materials, and assign courses. Advises Division Dean on all matters pertaining to departmental facilities, curriculum, assessment outcomes, enrollment trends, and staff needs for use in short- and long-range planning for the Division. Oversees departmental assessment activities, including program learning outcomes and continuous improvement, implements changes as needed, and reports on progress to Division Dean. Prepares grant funding proposals to supplement the existing budget when appropriate. Fosters the implementation and oversees the budget for all departmental grants. Works with departments that provide student services to efficiently deliver those services to students. Pursues cooperative agreements with area secondary schools and baccalaureate degree-granting institutions. Develops, maintains, and oversees community contacts, including departmental advisory committees, and fosters a collaborative learning environment for students in the department including internship and apprenticeship opportunities for students in local and/or regional industries. Supports institutional accreditation process and program review activities. Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in one of the departmental disciplines Three (3) years' experience teaching at the college level Three (3) years' administrative and supervisory experience Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree Five (5) years' experience teaching at the college levelPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
