Job Description
About Us Long Island Center for Recovery (LICR) is a leading inpatient substance use treatment facility dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals seeking recovery. We foster a professional, supportive environment focused on client safety, dignity, and long-term success. Position Summary The Admissions Assistant will follow the direction of the Admissions Director and/or Program Director and be able to work independently with regards to all inpatient admissions to our facility. Weekends are a MUST. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while gaining experience in the behavioral health or human services field. Key Responsibilities Ability to handle direction and work under direct supervision from the admissions director. To deliver exceptional telephone etiquette and experience through knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient service. Pre-screens all prospective clients by conducting phone assessments. Obtain demographic and insurance information as needed, schedule and coordinate client appointments and transportation. Collaborates with interdisciplinary medical, clinical, business development, and billing departments. Upon arrival to facility, all new admissions are processed by admissions team. Verification of insurance coverage. Handling of telephone inquiries and/or referrals to an appropriate facility, if admission to LICR is deferred or denied. Handling of inquiries and correspondence from referring sources, such as: EAP's, union representatives, probation/parole departments, hospital detox and med units, and referring agencies. Conduct follow-up phone calls with alumni after 30, 60, and 90 days since discharge. Coordinate transportation for discharging clients with the discharge planner. Other daily clerical, office, and departmental related duties.
