Job Description Schedule:
15 hours per week Position Summary The Quantitative Reasoning Center provides support to Vassar students enrolled in math, chemistry, economics, physics, biology, and earth science courses. The Q-Center Program Manager will oversee the student employees who serve as tutors and supplemental instructors for the Center. These duties will include recruiting, training, and mentoring those students. The Program Manager will ensure that Q-Center runs efficiently and provides services that enhance student success in their STEM courses. This is a part-time administrative position that will involve some work in evenings and on weekends. Applicants should have experience with teaching and tutoring STEM subject matter. The Program Manager will be employed throughout the academic year, with a flexible weekly schedule. Responsibilities Recruit, train, supervise and mentor Q-Center student tutors and supplemental instructors Create and oversee a schedule for Q-Center tutors Provide Q-Center employees with feedback on their performance Provide information to Chairs and Directors of STEM departments/programs about Q-Center programming Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: Experience teaching at the secondary or college-level or experience working with academic support programs Strong computer skills including proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn additional technical systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with a diverse community. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to interact socially with others. Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities: Strong foundation in STEM subject matter. Experience working with people with different learning modalities. Experience overseeing an education-related organization. Compensation The compensation for this position is $29.77 - $38.71 hourly. When extending an offer, Vassar College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, budget, and other market and organizational considerations. The starting salary range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting.
