Who We Are:

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Dean of Students•(Teacher on Special Assignment) at Springfield High School for the 2026-2027 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. Our academic and extracurricular aim is to ensure social and emotional learning growth for students with a wealth of opportunity, including a 1:1 initiative and the YouMedia Center, which is a digital learning lab offering students activities such as 3-D printing, graphic design, and videography. As a Dean of Students•(TOSA) you are required to: Current 7-12 licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education Exemplary knowledge and skills in the area of teaching and learning Demonstrated ability to forge highly effective relationships with staff and students A deep passion for developing students for success Excellent organizational skills Ability to actively participate in student activities occurring in the evenings and on weekends year round Working as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the goals of our District. Be flexible in your work schedule and be willing to attend/participate in professional development sessions Be willing to serve on teams Have the ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role As a Dean of Students•(TOSA) you will: Analyze data to improve school operations Assists in developing actions to accomplish instructional/program objectives within timelines Fostering a cooperative and respectful partnership with families and encouraging parent involvement through classroom observations and volunteer opportunities. Maintaining close relationships with parents, communicating on a regular basis, specifically in regards to at-risk students. Actively engaging at-risk students in the learning process; planning and using appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students. Recognizing the needs of individual students and the entire group and offering support and flexibility as needed. Working as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the goals of our District. Utilizing technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Participating in professional development activities that are aligned with district and building goals, assigned subject content and the varied needs of students.

What We Offer:

As a contracted employee, Teachers on Special Assignments work 183 days per year and 7.25 hours per day. Starting salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases with experience and education. Contracted employees receive competitive benefits. All employees receive professional development The Springfield Education Association and the Board of Education are currently working on a new professional agreement. While that is in the works, please refer to the current agreement as to pay and benefits that are in place for the 2025-26 school year.
