Job Description
Position Available Full-time, nine-month, Assistant or Associate Professor of English. Salary, based on qualifications andexperience, is determined by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and University President and approved by the Regional University Systemof Oklahoma (RUSO). General Information Northwestern Oklahoma State University is a state-assisted regional institution inthe Oklahoma System of Higher Education and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The student population is approximately 2,100students. Located in Alva, Oklahoma, and with additional campus locations in Enid and Woodward, the university is a center of activity forthe region. Available August 2026 Duties and Responsibilities Candidates must have experience teaching inthe public school system. The successful candidate is expected to teach all levels of English Education, including Teaching Methods, YoungAdult Literature, Usage and the Composition sequence; recruit and advise undergraduates; participate in committee work; and promote teamworkand collegiality within the department by working effectively with faculty, students, and staff. The candidate must be organized and able todraft and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data as needed for CAEP reporting. Serving as the program coordinator of EnglishEducation, the 24 credits per year load assignment includes field observation of student teachers and Teacher Education Committeeresponsibilities. Qualifications Doctorate or advanced ABD preferred, HLC-qualified master's degree required.
Masters-prepared faculty are appointed at the rank of instructor; terminal degree required for appointment at rank of assistant professor. A secondary ELA teaching certificate is required. Teaching experience in public education is required. College teaching experienceis desirable. A commitment to distance education, including online and ITV delivery of instruction, is desirable.
