Job Function The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations plays a key role in advancing the College's strategic constituent engagement initiatives. This position helps develop and oversee a process of progressive engagement that begins during the undergraduate experience and continues across the lifetime of an alumnus. The Assistant Director plans and executes innovative and engaging events across the year for the benefit of our alumni and the College community, developing strong relationships with volunteers who will further the reach of the office's mission of engagement. He or she coordinates with the College's marketing department to provide an active and engaging web and social media presence. The Assistant Director communicates with colleagues across campus, providing support, and fostering relationships among the College's constituent groups and leadership. Essential Elements Engagement
- Develops and oversees a process of progressive engagement that begins with the undergraduate experience and continues across the lifetime of an alumnus.
- Recruits and onboards coaches and retains volunteer leaders for various Alumni Relations programs.
- Delivers excellent customer service to alumni, parents, friends, and benefactors of the College.
- Leads the alumni communications efforts, including efforts such as a monthly digital newsletter, and the semi-annual King's Magazine in collaboration with other campus partners.
- Maintains the Office of Alumni Relation's social media presence in coordination with the College's marketing department.
- Identifies, cultivates, and stewards good relationships with Advancement prospects, while maintaining a portfolio of up to 30 fundraising prospects. Event Coordination
- Creates, manages, and executes a variety of events including, but not limited to: Reunion/Homecoming Weekend; local and regional alumni events; and Senior Alumni Party.
- Creates and tracks event budgets and revenue expectations (as applicable).
- Communicates in an efficient and timely manner with other offices, hosts or vendors involved in Office of Alumni Relations programming.
- Oversee the preparation of event-related materials (such as postcards, invitations, reply cards, posters, and electronic ads) and ensures their timely distribution.
- Manages events (including registration and transactions) in the College's information systems, including Blackbaud Raiser's Edge RE/NXT and Almabase.
- Assists campus offices and departments with event coordination and planning.
Required Skills, Training, and Experience 1. Bachelor's degree. 2. Experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, or related field. 3. Physical Conditions Standard office setting with long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and telephone. Occasional night and weekend event work required. Both indoor and outdoor working conditions, as well as special venues outside the office. in accordance with needs of the College and event schedules. Some travel is required. Must be able to lift, carry and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
