Job Description

Position Overview The part-time Education Coordinator manages classroom and festival programs, coordinates schedules, develops environmental education aligned with state standards, and builds community partnerships. Responsibilities include offsite presentations, event planning, social media, and reporting. Requires reliable transportation, strong communication, & organizational skills, and experience in children's environmental education. Compensation is $16/hour (firm).
Schedule & Hours Requirements Core In-Office Requirement:
Exactly 10 hours per week must be completed in-office during business hours; specifically scheduled within the window from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Presentations & Events:
Attend scheduled classroom presentations and community festivals. Paid travel time and mileage reimbursement.
Remote Work Flexibility:
Complete additional hours remotely to manage follow-up tasks and preparations.
Weekly Volume:
Expect up to 20 hours per week depending on demand, highly dependent on seasonal events and presentation schedules.
Preferred Qualifications Educational Background:
A 2-year technical or 4-year college degree is desired, specifically in Natural Resources, Biology, Education, or an Environmental/Agricultural background.
Example:
A candidate with a bachelor's degree in environmental science or Elementary Education would be considered highly desirable and a Master Naturalist would be a plus.
Relevant Experience:
Experience in children's education is preferred, with a preference for those who have worked in environmental science education and/or naturalist programs.
Example:
Someone who has previously developed and delivered environmental education programs for schools or camps would be a strong fit.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both classroom and festival audiences. Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance office, remote, and event duties. Ability to work independently as a motivated self-starter. Excellent communication skills for interacting with staff, teachers, and event organizers. Proficiency with computer software, including Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar), Microsoft Word, Canva, and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook).

A candidate who can efficiently schedule programs, communicate with teachers, and create engaging social media posts would excel in this role. Other Requirements Reliable transportation for travel to program and event sites within Beaufort County.
Example:
The role may require travel to locations such as Hilton Head, Bluffton, or Daufuskie, sometimes with travel times of over an hour.
