Job Description

You'll build partnerships and direct funding toward initiatives that strengthen belonging.
Position Summary:
This role partners with Student Life units and with student organizations to support the needs of international students, emphasizing belonging, cultural adjustment, and leadership development. A necessary responsibility of the International Student Experience Collective (ISEC) Lead is the management and oversight of the International Student Experience Collective Fund. The Fund is stewarded jointly by the Director of International Center (IC) and Director of Student Initiatives and Partnerships (SIP). The ISEC Lead works with a dedicated committee to grow programmatic goals aligned with the fund, directing resources toward impactful initiatives that benefit international students. Reporting to the Director of the International Center (IC), the International Student Experience Collective (ISEC) Lead coordinates initiatives within Student Life. The Lead's initiatives aim to support and enhance the experience of international students at the University of Michigan. You will have a dotted line to the Student Initiatives and Partnerships (SIP) Director to identify new opportunities for student support and enhance existing divisional opportunities and new student life initiatives and priorities. The ISEC Lead works with the IC Global Engagement and Education Abroad (GEEA) team to ensure cohesive programming, resources, and outreach, including developing and implementing programs within the GEEA framework. This role partners with the Assistant Director of GEEA who leads out the existing programs and offerings to international students provided by the IC. You will work a hybrid schedule (minimum three in-person days per week), standard 8am-5pm schedule, with occasional nights and weekends. You can find the full job description here. Responsibilities- Build and sustain strategic partnerships across Student Life units and with student organizations to enhance the international student experience aligning initiatives with divisional and institutional priorities Lead and coordinate the International Student Experience Collective (ISEC), including setting priorities, facilitating meetings, and driving progress on shared plans Manage a division-wide engagement strategy to increase international student support, including participation, belonging, and cross-cultural connection Administer the ISEC Fund, including managing the proposal process, facilitating selection committees, and ensuring distribution of resources Oversee budget and financial operations for the ISEC Fund, ensuring compliance, stewardship, and understanding of strategic priorities Lead assessment and evaluation efforts, including collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to measure impact and inform decision-making Participate in the implementation of projects, initiatives, workshops, leadership development, events, and activities developed by Student Life units and IC Communicate the impact of initiatives through reports, storytelling, and stakeholder updates, and contribute to programming that supports international student engagement and leadership development Required Qualifications• Master's degree in higher education, international education, student affairs, social work, or a related field 4 or more years of professional experience in higher education, student affairs, or a related setting supporting international students or global initiatives and/or cross-cultural projects Experience designing, implementing, and assessing programs, including using data to inform decisions Experience managing budgets, funds, or financial processes with attention to compliance and stewardship Experience developing and delivering presentations, articles, or other communication materials Experience living, working, volunteering, and/or studying in another country Why Work at Michigan?
