Resume Cover letter References (minimum of three) Purpose of Position The Director of Development will secure private and voluntary support from alumni and friends for UT Arlington. Manage a portfolio to identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit potential major gift donors. Solicit constituents in collaboration with academic leadership and ensure proper recognition and stewardship. Collaborate with colleagues in University Advancement to develop and advance fundraising strategies. Essential Functions Responsible for the management of 80-100 potential or actual donors with an approximate fundraising capacity of $25M. Make personal contact, including in-person visits, with a portfolio of individuals and, when appropriate, corporate representatives and foundation officers to build relationships and secure major gifts for UT Arlington. Work collaboratively with colleagues in University Advancement including other development officers, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Annual Giving, and Gift and Estate Planning to determine funding priorities and potential funding sources for university priorities. Collaborate with assigned faculty and administration to determine funding priorities and potential funding sources for various academic programs as well as provide development support for fundraising opportunities. Work closely with the Executive Director for Principal Gifts & University Initiatives and the Prospect Development and Research team to advance regional development strategies, identify new prospects, and perform regular portfolio maintenance. Manage the Associate Director for Regional Development and University Initiatives. Participate in team based fundraising efforts that advance the mission and strategic vision of UT Arlington. Performs all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree is required with a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in major gift fundraising and with a solid track record of securing major gifts, or related and transferable experience from corporate, community or philanthropic organizations or nine (9) to eleven (11) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to design and implement effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies. Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess more than seven (7) years of experience in major gift fundraising, with a demonstrated record of securing six-figure gifts and higher. Experience managing volunteers and engaging key stakeholders. Previous fundraising experience within an institution of higher education. Experience supporting regional development initiatives, university-wide priorities, or academic units. Experience planning and executing comprehensive fundraising campaigns. Knowledge of gift planning vehicles and the ability to effectively communicate and market these opportunities to alumni and prospective donors. Experience using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT or other advancement and donor management databases. Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships and work effectively with a wide range of students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and community constituents. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities A high degree of professionalism and customer service. Strong organizational skills and ability to set and meet appropriate deadlines. Detail-oriented with high attention to follow through. Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMs). Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills. Very strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through. A strong commitment to the University and College's mission and values. Ability to speak credibly about higher education and the aspirations of the University and College and be able to deliver effective written and oral presentations. Ability to travel extensively for meetings and to participate regularly in events and activities. Ability to manage complex relationships and be a proven collaborator with teamwork skills. Ability to work in a system that emphasizes measurable objectives, including goals and metrics for major gift activity and dollars raised. Work Schedule Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm Requires occasional evening or weekend hours. Working Conditions Driving personal vehicle required. May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. 10% Travel.
